"We were overjoyed to learn we were expecting but soon we knew something was very wrong. Our doctor could not find a heartbeat. Samuel was born on March 5, 2000. My husband comforted me and reassured me of God’s plan for us... but his words felt empty from the pain of losing our tiny Samuel.
A few months later we learned that we were pregnant again. But at just 19 weeks, I was rushed to the hospital again. I was in labor. We were pressured to abort, as the specialist believed the infection would take us both if we did not terminate her life. Instead, we trusted our own Great Physician. They stopped my labor and our beautiful Whitney Grace arrived on March 5, 2001, in the very same room that we mourned our precious Samuel exactly one year before.
Sadly, the next year we lost Elijah to miscarriage on July 9, 2002. Again, we prayed and trusted that God would restore. Again, our devastation turned to joy when we learned we were expecting again. As God would have it, our sweet Avery Faith made her entrance on July 9, 2003, exactly one year after we lost Elijah.
So often, we are reminded that God’s grace is far more abundant than we can fathom, and His plans are greater than our own. We need only to have faith. Life is not for me to give or take away, and trusting that has changed me forever.”
